Description

The HID Drysuit is manufactured from ultra hard-wearing black Aquatex fabric. Don’t expect a considerable amount of excess material, a usual feature of a membrane drysuit, as the Constant Fit Tension Flex system on this technical tri-laminate drysuit fits closely while moving in tune with the diver’s body. As the HID Drysuit is front-entry, the Constant Fit Tension Flex system comes in handy when putting on and removing the drysuit. When completing these processes, the BDM metal zip isn’t put under excessive pressure, nor the diver’s neck. The HID Drysuit many useful features with items such as a dive computer in mind, we have added our recently developed Anti Slip Equipment Anchor to each wrist. Owing to the anti-slip material used, the anchor helps to keep your equipment secure and in position for the duration of the dive. A pocket for our popular new Flexi-Light is just below the shoulder on the side of the right arm. The HID Drysuit has a zipped transporter pocket, with an integrated diver’s knife pocket, on the side of the right thigh. A hook-and-loop fastened bellows pocket features in the same position on the left thigh.

Reviews

Top equipment and exceptional service

By Brendan Keenan on Nov 6, 2022

I have now had my HID drysuit since September. I was going to write a review immediately about the service I received. The team at at Northern Diver said don't wait and review the suit .Well all I can say about the suit is its the best fitting suit I have had to date . The quality of the suit it way beyond some of the others I have had ,that were considerably more expensive i.It is as I have said well fitting rugged but flexible .2 pockets kneepads very comfortable neck seal an a few other extras (as listed on the website ) that com as standard . The ease of movement and comfort in the water is perfect . And there is no faffing about with rock boots ,as they are attached .. to Maddie and the front desk team I salute you . To the back of house team You are a credit to your company . All in all one of the best over all experiences I have had since I started diving .I truly felt that the person was more important than just the money in the wallet .this team go above and beyond Regards Brendan Keenan

Outstanding Suit!

By Ross Mclaren on Jun 15, 2021

I’ve been using the Northern Diver Divemaster suit for the last 4 years and I’ve genuinely not had one wet dive and absolutely love it, decided I wanted to move to a front entry suit. I’ll be honest I was a wee bit sceptical about the switch but I picked up the HID suit and straight away the durability and quality of the suit was evident! The outer material is tough and clearly going to be hardwearing. There’s little to no stretch in it and moving from neoprene to membrane this is just something I am going to personally get used to it. As always the boots on the suit are excellent, nice and solid, plenty of grip and although there’s no stretching in the suit itself there is a wee bit of flexibility in the boot with a neoprene “cuff” attaching the boots to the legs. The big bellow pockets on the legs are excellent. I generally look like a Christmas tree when I’m diving so means I can stow away a couple of bits of kit that would normally be dangling off my harness. There’s a big D-ring on the inside of one pocket and the only improvement I can see here would be to put one onto the other side as well just so there’s more options to stow stuff a bit more securely in both sides, but overall they’re great. The neck and arm seals are spot on as always. The neoprene seal around the neck is the same as in my Divemaster which has never let me down yet. I opted for the silicon seals on the wrist for a change and I was a bit unsure if I’d like them. I was a bit worried they’d be a bit flimsy and cold but they seem really sturdy and I feel I’m getting a better seal compared to my old neoprene ones. The zip/front entry of the suit was my main reason for changing and what a difference it makes to getting in and out of it. I did struggle with sizing a wee bit, but that’s not unusual for me. I’m such an awkward size in normal clothes getting a dry suit/wetsuit to fit is an absolute nightmare. As I was used to the flexibility in my Divemaster I wanted similar in the HID so although it is designed to “fit closely” I decided to go up a size so I did have a wee bit extra room and I didn’t lose that movement I wanted to maintain. This meant there is probably a wee bit of extra material but I’ll be honest I’ve been nothing less than comfortable in all my dives since getting it. At the end of the day the biggest thing is how it feels in the water and I’ve been blown away with how comfortable it is. I’d accepted it would take a bit of time to adjust but from the moment I got in the water it has been perfect. Maybe it’s just me, but I haven’t even found a difference in my body temperature either. I’ve been able to keep my “normal” thermals without feeling the need to add any more layers. That might change come winter, but so far (even when diving at 8oC at times) I haven’t found it cold. I don’t think I am quite ready to part with my Divemaster, but sadly for the foreseeable future it has well and truly been relegated to the clothes rack. The HID is a phenomenal piece of kit it’s hard to see a better option… and even that’s before you even look at the price compared to its competition!

My shopping experience

By on Sep 17, 2020

I was looking for good diving equipment , for an affordable price. Then I came across the Northern Diver web page. I decided to go there, ( The shop is close enough for me in Wigan ) ...I was thinking I can't lose if I have a look. All I can say is: This was my best shopping experience in my life! The sales staff , especially " Maddie ", was so helpful. Her knowledge about diving equipment is excellent. I was looking to buy a full kit ; Dry suit , Under suit , BCD , Mask , Finns , Weights , Torch , Cylinder and Regulator. She made shopping an ease , enjoyable and I even got a coffee while I was waiting to gather my stuff. She did all the measurement of me for my dry suit, and we discussed all options and I decided to give the go ahead. Because I was buying a full kit, she arranged for me a ton of discounts. Nowadays if you wanna buy a full kit it can be costly . Believe it or not , everything fit within £2200. For about a week I was waiting for my kit to get ready , and today finally tried it out. Everything was working fine. I was a bit hesitant about the regulators ( I have never heard about the brand "HYDRA" before ) the airflow was more than enough , the design is so cool, and it came with a free case which contained a little computer case. I always check everything before I buy it. I was reading bad comments of their products,( in the past they had a few quality issues about the dry suit zippers , but they are no longer using plastic zips , just the quality copper ones now.) Overall I would strongly recommend "NORTHERN DIVER" for anyone who's into diving and looking for good stuff and exceptional prices.
